Prime the Pump
When I was growing up, my family had a boat and we would go water skiing during the summer. The boat had an outboard engine with two six-gallon mobile gas tanks. Before we could start the motor we had to squeeze a black bulb in the gas line a few times to start gas flowing to the motor. We had to prime the pump.
As we look forward to the New Year with great anticipation in what God is going to do in our lives, let’s make a commitment, (not resolutions that are easily broken) that we are going to draw closer to God. In order to have a relationship with God, we have to spend time with Him. This can be accomplished by engaging in dialogue with God through prayer.
Have you ever had difficulty in discovering what you should pray about? In order for me to draw close to God, I have to prime the pump. One way I do this is by reading and meditating on His Word. Another way, is to enter into a sense of worship by playing and singing along with Christian Worship Songs. These are means that will open my heart and enable me to enter into His presence and then prayer flows naturally.
Let’s start the New Year on the right foot, by dedicating a special time every day to draw into the presence of God. God is here, waiting on your call. He wants a relationship with you. “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” (Deuteronomy 31:8)
